Terms of service

• You need an account to use Minbar, with an email address you can receive mail at. Keep your password safe and don’t share your account.
• You’re responsible for what’s done with your account. If you think someone else has used it, change your password and tell us.
• Two-step verification is available on your Security page, and we recommend it.

• Recordings are kept in an organisation: a masjid, school, academy, dawah organisation, or your own classes. The person who sets it up is its owner, and can invite others with the roles Minbar offers (for example Editor, Reviewer or Member).
• While Minbar is in its early days, each new organisation is approved by our team before it can upload recordings. We may decline an organisation, and we’ll tell you if we do.
• The owner is responsible for who they invite and what those people do in the organisation.

• Your organisation owns its recordings and everything Minbar makes from them: videos, clips, captions, translations, reports and suggestions.
• You give Minbar permission to store and process them only to provide the service to your organisation: transcribing, editing, rendering, checking, translating and, when you ask, publishing them. We don’t sell them, and we don’t use them for anything else.
• You confirm you have the right to upload each recording, including the speaker’s agreement, and that any music, nasheeds or other material in it may be used.
• Only copy an organisation’s talks into a demonstration, or show them to others, with that organisation’s agreement. Minbar does the same with its own demonstrations.

Every recording is checked against Minbar's rules. Don’t upload or publish anything that breaks them or the law, for example content that is hateful, threatens or harms people, invades someone’s privacy, or infringes someone else’s rights.

If we’re told about, or find, a recording or account that breaks the rules or these terms, we may warn the organisation, hold back a recording, or suspend or close the account or organisation. Where we can, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

Minbar uses AI and automatic tools for transcripts, translations, editorial reports, Media safety, Media strategy, clips and publishing suggestions. They are helpful but can be wrong, especially with Arabic, Qur'an and hadith references, names, and audio recorded in large halls.

Your organisation reviews and approves what is published. Minbar’s ear-check, content review, clip review and delivery review steps are there for that. Minbar is not a source of religious rulings, and nothing it produces is a fatwa or a verified reference until someone qualified has checked it.

• An organisation can connect its own YouTube, Instagram or TikTok account and post approved videos to it from Minbar. Each platform’s own terms and policies apply to what is posted there, and you are responsible for following them.
• YouTube: by connecting a YouTube channel you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Minbar uses YouTube API Services; Google's handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
• TikTok: posting follows TikTok's Music Usage Confirmation and, for branded content, its Branded Content Policy.
• Instagram: posting follows Meta's Instagram Terms of Use.
• You can disconnect an account at any time in Publish. Minbar then stops posting to it, cancels its access where the platform allows, and deletes what it kept from that platform. What's already posted stays on the platform; change or remove it there.

• Minbar’s plans, what each includes and their prices are on the Plan page. Every new organisation starts on the free trial.
• Minbar isn’t taking payment yet. Before charging starts, we’ll tell every organisation, show the price clearly, and ask before taking any payment. Nothing is charged without your agreement.
• Minbar may give an organisation a deal, for example a founding partner, partner, charity rate or an ambassador’s code. A deal’s terms are shown on the Plan page, and may include a limit on recordings a month.
• Fair-use limits, such as recordings or hours a month, apply as shown on the Plan page.
• Hours. A monthly bundle's hours are for that month and start again on the 1st; hours not used don't carry over. A yearly bundle's hours are for its whole year (for example, 10 hours a month paid yearly is 120 hours to use any time in the year), counted from the day it was chosen. Hour packs are bought once and their hours can be used until the date shown when they were bought; they're used after your bundle's hours, oldest first.
• Paying by Direct Debit. Once charging starts, bundles are paid by Direct Debit, in advance: each month, or once a year. Each bundle's monthly and yearly prices are the ones shown on the Plan page when you choose it.
• Founding bundles. The founding bundles are for a limited number of masjids, Islamic centres and Islamic charities, while places are left (shown on the Plan page). A founding organisation keeps its founding price, and early access to new features, for as long as every payment is made. If a Direct Debit payment is missed and not made up within 7 days, or the Direct Debit is cancelled, the founding place ends: the organisation moves to the standard price of its bundle from the next payment, early access ends, and the founding place can't be taken back.

• We work to keep Minbar running and your files safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. Processing can take time, especially on busy days such as Fridays.
• We may change, add or remove features. If a change takes away something important, we’ll tell you first where we can.
• Keep your own copies of your original recordings: Minbar is not a backup service.

• You can stop using Minbar at any time. To close your account or organisation and delete its information, email support@minbar.co.uk.
• We may suspend or close an account or organisation that breaks these terms or the rules, misuses Minbar, or puts others at risk. Where we can, we’ll give notice and a chance to download your videos first.
• When an organisation is removed, its recordings, videos and files are deleted and can’t be brought back. Records the law requires us to keep, such as payment records, are kept.

• Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
• Otherwise, we aren’t responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, for loss of business or income, or for what an organisation chooses to publish. While Minbar takes no payment, our total responsibility to you is limited to £100; once you pay, it is limited to what you paid Minbar in the 12 months before the problem.
• If you use Minbar as a consumer, you also have rights under UK consumer law, and these terms don’t take those away.

We may update these terms as Minbar changes. We’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll tell you in Minbar or by email before they apply. If you keep using Minbar after that, the new terms apply.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to its courts. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings there. Please talk to us first at support@minbar.co.uk: most things can be put right quickly.
